Soda bread is easy to make and only takes a few ingredients. It is very versatile. Toast it or don’t, eat it with butter or jelly or jam, or even eat it plain.
Ingredients
- 3 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 2/3 cups buttermilk, well shaken
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the dry ingredients. Add the buttermilk and knead until well combined.
- Pat into a smooth circle and cut a deep cross in the center. Place on the baking tray and bake for 30 minutes.
- Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
