Quick Yeast Rolls

These simple yeast rolls are easy and fast to make, and taste great.

Quick Yeast Rolls


  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2.5 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour


  1. In a large bowl, mix sugar, shortening, and hot water.
  2. Allow to cool until lukewarm, and then mix in the yeast until dissolved.
  3. Mix in the egg, salt, and flour.
  4. Allow to rise until doubled.
  5. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Grease 8 muffin cups.
  6. Divide the dough into the 8 muffin cups, and allow to rise until doubled again.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes in preheated oven or until a knife inserted in the center of a roll comes out clean.
