I love Hershey’s chocolate syrup. It is great on ice cream, in milk, or just straight out of the bottle. This stuff is easy to make and tastes even better than Hershey’s syrup.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- In a saucepan, mix the cocoa powder and water. Heat (medium) and stir to dissolve the cocoa powder.
- Add the sugar, and stir to dissolve.
- Boil for 3 minutes over medium heat. BE CAREFUL! The liquid's volume will multiply once it starts to boil. Do not leave unattended! Reduce heat as needed to prevent it from boiling over.
- Stir in the salt and vanilla.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool before transferring to a clean glass jar.
- Lasts for several months in the refrigerator.
